Hi, I am Meng Lei. I grew up in a small town in southern China and left home at 16. Since then life has taken me to Uppsala, Amsterdam, Brisbane, Chennai, Milan, and Boston, and now San Francisco, which I call home.

Every place left me something: a perspective, a way of seeing and being; together they taught me how to find what we share faster than what divides us. Somewhere along the way I fell in love with espresso, scuba diving, surfing, and most things involving oceans and mountains.

These days I invest in and help build the companies that make our infrastructures more sustainable, our cities more livable, and our lives more enjoyable. I’m currently a principal at Generate Capital, where I structure capital solutions for climate tech. Friday Morning Labs is where I write about it.
